I can say that it was a memorable trip for all of us, it didn't cost much too. For my very first mountain, I guess it's normal to be bothered by all the tiny critters crawling up my legs, the small scratches I got from passing by twigs, and not to mention the exhaustion from climbing. This trip would really put anyone's stamina on the line, but once you reach that peak, an overwhelming sense of accomplishment will flood you. Boy, were we wrong in thinking that climbing a mountain would be a chill activity to do on a holiday haha. As relaxing as a mountain peak sounds, I suggest you try going to a beach instead, if you're not up for a little challenge.
So when you're a noob like me and it's your first time to climb a mountain, here's a list of essentials suggested by my mountaineer friend:
Things to bring:
- 2-3 liters of water
- Food (Snacks)
- Extra clothes
- Extra footwear ( Mt. Mabilog tends to be muddy)
- Sun protection ( cap, arm sleeves, sun block)
- A poncho/ raincoat in case it rains
- Plastic for wet clothes
- Personal Medicine
- 50 Php parking fee
- 350 Php guide fee (5:1 ratio)
After conquering Mt. Mabilog, we headed down to Bunga Falls. By this time, I was covered in mud, sweat, and had a serious itch from all the ant bites, this fueled my excitement to wash up beside the falls. We were also starving because by the time of our descent, it was lunch time. We forgot to bring packed lunch, so we resorted to cup noodles because that was all they had. I suggest you bring packed lunch or eat before going to the falls.
Bunga Falls Expenses:
- 5 Php entrance fee
- 250 Php cottage
- 40 Php (small salbabida) 50 Php (large salbabida)
The best part is you can go cliff diving!
